A whole new perspective to helping with a move

Heyyy Fam:)

So the highlight of this week was probably our district service project in San Miguel! That is the furthest area in our mission, so we got to see some beautiful places on the way there! We just help a member move😄 That sounds pretty normal right? Well it was everything but that... Because we legit moved their ENTIRE HOUSE!😂 We put bamboo poles under it and lifted it up and moved it to a new area. Holy crap was it heavy! I'll send videos so you understand:)

The members were very grateful for our help so they fed us lunch after:) They actually killed their goat and fed it to us😂 Basically, it was a weird adventure!

We had a ton of lessons this week! One of my favorite ones was on Wednesday night though. It was dark so we ended up shining our flashlight on us so they could see the pictures. That attracted a lot of people over to listen for some reason. At the end, we were teaching probably 20 plus people!! It was an awesome feeling to be testifying of the BOM to a crowd:)

Yesterday we had a good eye opening experience. We were walking fast to an appointment we were a little late for, when a guy smoking said in broken English "Hey.. ummm I am ahhh Mormon!" We kept walking because guys say stuff like that pretty often. For some reason I felt like we should talk to him like 20 steps after we passed him. But we kept walking bcwe were late for our set appointment. He ended up getting on his motorcycle though and followed us. Thank goodness he acted on his prompting to talk to us even though we carelessly kept walking...

Turns out he actually is a member. He hasn't been to church in 15 years and has made some poor decisions since he left. His family was all baptized in the past, but now he has made some poor decisions in his life.I told him the story of Peter when he was walking on the water to Christ. How when the storms came he doubted for a second and began to sink. He had to take an act of faith to reach out to take Christs hand. I asked him if he was walking on top of the water with full faith, or if he was sinking a little bit. He was like "Hmmm I still have faith, so probably on top of the water." I was like Brooo not even close this guy is drowning to death for the last 15 years hahaha. That was in my head tho... I just told him Faith without works is dead and told him he needs to repent and come back to church with his family. He committed to come next week so we'll see if he does!

I learned something cool at our Stake Conference this week! It was Baliwags first stake conference ever which was pretty cool. President Sison said something cool about sins. He explained how their are two types of sins:

1.Sins of Commission - Coming from the root word commit. These are sins that you know are wrong, but still do them anyway.
2.Sins of Omission - Coming from the root word omit. This is the part I liked:) These are sins that come from when you know the right things that you SHOULD be doing, but you don't do them.

I know that we all know the things we should be doing in our lives. Try to pick one Christlike attribute that you should have, and then make that change:)

Love you guys!

Graden loves this area and commented that it is not only prettier but smelled better!

On the way to San Miguel

Literally helped this family move their home.

Graden looks like he is practicing to work in his dads spook alley for Halloween.

Job well done deserves a wonderful goat dinner :)

Graden is in the gray tshirt and black shorts
No glasses! Special occasion basketball game this morning. Still loving these weekly calls!

Week of Pictures

Talking with Graden was short and sweet this week. We were told it was a great week and then he sent some pictures and videos.  He was in a hurry to go to a Mexican restaurant they discovered with some of the members of the ward. After over a year of very little Mexican food, I totally get the urgency :) He said he would try to send an email later but it's looking like that didn't happen!

Fun family activity at the church

Graden loves this lady- can you blame him? :)

This one reminds me of Graden's sisters dancing at Parker and Jenni's wedding :)

Every day Every day Every day

Hey fam,
First off all, I loved conference so much!! Elder Holland started it off so powerfully when he said "Brothers and Sisters... Welcome to Conference." The main things I like from conference was how we need to focus on our personal holiness in order to gain true joy in this journey called life. I also loved the quote “The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives." That quote is directed to just about every single person I have met on my mission. I LOVE thinking about the importance of attitude. It really can control who we are and who we become. "You can't know who you can become until you know who you are right now." In order to find yourself, I think we have to really step back and evaluate our attitude on life. I don't have tons of time left to email, but I'll send you some pics of my notes I took.

We had a baptism this week! It was for an investigator that has been taking lessons for 2 years now. Sister Recca was baptized by her husband Kurt on Saturday. They were married a few weeks ago after a lot of marriage problems and trust issues. After he pulled her out of the water they just gave each other the biggest hug ever. I was grateful to be there to see and feel the joy that they received from their new commitment to come closer to each other through Christ:)

We had a few investigators at conference this week. It was good and bad. I don't think they understood a whole lot, but I hope they learned a few things. One of our investigators has the roughest past ever. He is currently working as a garbage man, his kid is trying to get a job at the junk shop to support his family. Carlito has had problems with Word of Wisdom, but we are going to help him change his life around. I am excited to see the gospel work miracles on him. Meeting investigators with Word of Wisdom problems is one of my favorite. If we can help them overcome their addictions, their lives truly will spin around 180 degrees.

We are excited to keep working our very best "Every day Every day Every day" so that we can eventually see baptisms in this ward "Every week Every week Every week!" That talk was awesome as well! I look forward to going back and studying each of the talks a little bit more in depth. Hope you guys all have a good week!
